Hello,
The Pickens County Taxpayers Association (PCTA) is an organization of various individuals — local citizens, community leaders and business owners, who have banded together to protect taxpayers and fight for the rights of property owners, inform you on how our local politicians are spending your money.
On average, property tax bills rose 35% in the 2005 reassessment. In November 2006, the school board voted to borrow $336,000,000 million, and in the process, took away the people’s right to vote on all that debt in a referendum. This scheme, known as the Greenville Plan, will raise your property taxes 40 mils.
After traveling around the state, the Superintendent and school board are now traveling around the country to look at other schools. All on your dime, and taking money out of the class room to do it.

i feel that one reason that the county is getting away with robery is because there are not enough people standing up for their rights….
after living here for 19 years i have met many people that have a legitimate gripe or problem but they are to afraid to challenge those that think they have control over them…no one can have control over you unless you impower them to have that control. its time that we get our wits together and put the high and mighty back under our control.the legislators are paid by us..they work for us..we dont work for them….we are suppose to tell them what to do and how to do it..not them telling us what they are going to do and how they want us to react…i was recently at the pickens county court house and saw some concrete memorials in the front lawn…….i was apalled at what i read on them….there were names of pickens county medal of honor winners.(God Rest there souls) did they die in vain?….it sure looks like they did..the county of pickens is advertising die for us so we can put your name on a block in front of our courthouse and make ourselves look good to people passing by from out of town but DONT YOU DARE TO COME INSIDE AND EXPECT ANY RIGHTS ……..
if one of those great heroes was a relative of mine i would demand that his name be removed from that or any pickens county government property..
that is absolutely a disgrace to the families to have those heroes advertised like that to promote an ungrateful group of public SERVENTS..
thats right they are public SERVENTS not kings and this is NOT there land its ours..i have recently learned that my time here on this earth is very limited and before i die i vow to help change things back to the way they should be so that others may prosper and have there rights back….
oh and by the way just incase anyone does read this i want you to know that i refuse to pay anyone any amount of money to build anything on my OWN land..when you get a permitt to build on your own land you have to pay extra if you are the builder…………THAT IS EXTORTION……..and will be delt with accordingly….
